13-Year-Old To Host Fundraising Skate Day

February 7, 2014

A young Bermudian is setting an example of goodwill to others by leveraging his birthday into a fundraising event to raise money to go towards the building of a skateboard park.

Finn Wilson will turn 13 on Saturday, February 8, and to celebrate, he’ll be hosting a Skate Day Party at the No. 1 Car Park the following day [Feb 9], all day until 5.00pm.

There will be ramps and railings set up from early in the morning, with all of the island’s skateboard lovers invited to come and take advantage. Experienced skateboarders will be on hand to offer advice to beginners.

Finn Wilson shows off his skateboarding skills:

In return for the skateboarding accommodations, Finn is asking for donations from all who attend, with the goal of raising enough money to begin the smoothing of the area set aside for the skateboard park, giving every skateboarder a safe place to practice and enjoy their sport.

Great to see, would also be great if the growing skateboard population were able to get a permanent park. I, for one, am strongly in support of anything that young people are passionate about which keeps them away from potentially harmful influences.

Thanks for your encouraging message. You can donate directly to the Charity if you wish, and I will gladly send you the details.

I heard if your city does not have a skatepark, it is one. Ask property managers. Kids need a safe place to skateboard, GO Finn!
