BIFF Full Line Up To Be Announced On Feb 24

The 17th annual Bermuda International Film Festival will take place between March 21-27, 2014. BIFF has released the design for this year’s festival poster. Created by Aardvark Communications, the design depicts Bermuda iconography set around a day/night globe motif to reflect the “Global Visions” theme of this year’s festival.

Andrew Stoneham, Festival Operations Manager, said, “BIFF is well-known for its diverse World Cinema line-up but this year, more so than ever, we have a broad representation of narrative and documentary features from around the world including Cambodia, Chile, Egypt and Japan.

“BIFF 2014 will certainly provide a fresh perspective on universal issues such as the family, relationships and coming of age. We also really like the night and day aspect of the poster design, which represents the light and shade of the festival’s mood with comedies, dark drama and everything in between on offer.”

A spokesperson said, “The BIFF programming committee has been busy scouring the festival circuit to bring the best in world cinema to the island, alongside some home-grown gems straight from the onion patch. As BIFF is one of only a small number worldwide of Academy Award qualifying festivals for the Short Film – Live Action Oscar, there will also be a diverse narrative shorts line-up.

“These will screen in competition for the coveted Bermuda Shorts award presided over by an esteemed judging panel [to be announced]. The shorts competition finalists also offer broad representation, with successful entries from Australia, Belgium, Kosovo and United Arab Emirates, to name a few.”

The spokesperson continued, “Each year BIFF owes much of its success to a dedicated volunteer crew to lend a hand with everything from ticketing and marketing to admissions and manning the bar at events. We are now recruiting for BIFF 2014.
