Man Jailed Two Years For Drug Possession

February 25, 2014

Twenty two year old Maxwell Hayward appeared in Magistrates Court today [Feb 25] and was sent to prison for two years after pleading guilty and being convicted of possessing 31 twists containing 16.55 grams of cannabis and 40 twists containing 65.49 grams of cocaine freebase with all intended for supply.

The Crown Prosecutor told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that Police searches on the 9th and 10th January 2012 turned up the twists inside a chest of drawers inside Hayward’s bedroom and in a hole in the wall within the cage of an occupied dog kennel in Hayward’s yard. Police also found a total of $14,500 in rolled up Bermuda currency inside Hayward’s residence; along with a digital scale.

Lawyer for Hayward, Justin Williams told the Magistrate that on the 9th of January 2012, in the aftermath of a recent killing, there was a party involving 15 to 20 people at Hayward’s house.

The Crown asked for a sentence between 2-1/2 and 3 years in total. The defence lawyer asked for a sentence not exceeding 18 months.

The sentence was six months for possession of the cannabis; and two years for possession of the cocaine. The two sentences were ordered to run concurrently. The Magistrate also ordered that the $14,500 was to be forfeited.

    Mmmmm delicious drugs.

    Legalize it all.

You have to treat drugs as a social and personal problem, not a crime. Unless youre selling like this dumb s***, then it should be illegal.

If youre a user or possessor, then you should be given help. If youre a dealer then you should go to hell.

  4. Personally grown cannabis ought to be decriminalized in a civilized society.

it is time something needs to be done We can no longer keep doing the same things. the STAGGERING STATISTICS do not lie they are in fact so sobering one has to wonder if our society is sick as hell. The presentation presented by retired police enforcement Officer Jack Cole last night at the CRC forum was mind blowing. Check the stats for yourself.
