Triple Challenge Asks Are You Fit For Charity?

February 28, 2014

The organisers of Bermuda’s obstacle challenge are asking again: Are you fit for charity?

After two successful years and raising over $100,000 to date for Bermudian charities, the Bermuda Triple Challenge is expanding into an international event, a three day weekend of healthy, fun activity and charitable fund raising.

April 4th-6th will compress three fun and challenging obstacle courses into an exciting weekend were teams of two or four individuals challenge themselves to see, who really is the fittest for charity.

Co-organiser Dr. Reid Robinson highlights, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge is a three day challenge series suitable for all levels of fitness, which are manageable for all levels of fitness, but challenging enough for the elite who wish to race around the course. Health and wellness within the community, including charitable fund raising are our primary focuses.”

The aim of the Bermuda Triple Challenge is to raise $50,000 – $100,000 for local charities, so participants are encouraged to reach out into the community for pledges in order to improve their chances of winning. A dual award point system based on teams’ total charitable funds raised and their finishing times will determine the weekend’s overall winners of the $1,000 grand prize.

“We’re looking to expand the Bermuda Triple Challenge’s impact within our community.” explains co-organiser Jason Correia. “Fund raising remains a primary focus, but we’re expanding our objective to also attract overseas visitors to enjoy an exciting, action packed excursion of Bermuda. The obstacle courses are set in three of Bermuda’s beautiful, cultural hotspots for visitors and locals alike to explore and enjoy.”

With ambitions of becoming one of the Bermuda community calendar’s premier events, the activities kick off on the Friday evening of April 4th in the Towne of St. George with the Butterfield & Vallis Urban Foot Race, a 2-3K dash through the Old Towne including urban inspired obstacles and CrossFit workout stations.

Saturday morning has teams tackling the KRyS Global Island Challenge in the sand and surf of Bermuda’s south shore, plus a guest visit to the Bermuda Regiment’s assault course. Sunday morning provides for the climactic finish at the ACE Group Royal Challenge in Dockyard, followed by an appreciation brunch.

The Bermuda Triple Challenge is open to ages 14 and up. Race registration is provided on Racedayworld.com. Full details for the Bermuda Triple Challenge are also provided on their website bdatriplechallenge.com. Online donations are also accepted at Raceday World.
