March 10, 2014

At approximately 7:50pm on Saturday March 8th, the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service responded to a report of structural fire in a two-story house located on Ewing Street, Pembroke.

Fire Service spokesperson Leonard Davis said, “The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident with 3 fire appliances staffed with 13 firefighters.”

“Upon our arrival there was visible smoke and flames seen emitting from one of the lower apartment windows. Firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus and equipped with a 1½” hose line made entry through a lower level entrance to extinguish the fire.

“Once the fire was under control, a full interior search was carried out of the apartment to determine if it was vacant. Ventilation was carried out immediately after the search to remove any toxic smoke. A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
