Footballer Jonte Smith Heading To Finland

jonte smith[Updated] According to Jonte Smith’s social media accounts, the young Bermudian striker appears to have left Crawley Town and is heading to Finland.

He has referenced it on his Twitter feed, and in addition a post on his Instagram page said, “Thanks to my teammates and the club for all the memories!

“Most of all the fans that have always supported me! It’s time for a new footballing adventure in Finland!”

The 20 year old professional footballer was signed to English League One side Crawley Town, and joined Gosport Borough on a month’s loan in January 2014.

We reached out to both Smith and Crawley Town for more information, and will update as able.

Update: Crawley Town confirms that Smith has joined the Kemi Kings — who play in the third tier of the Finnish League — and said he “will stay with the club until June 30 on loan with a view to signing a permanent deal.”

Crawley Manager John Gregory said: “Jonte’s contract is up at the end of the season so this is a great opportunity foy him to put himself in the shop window and get some games under his belt.

“You have to admire him for being prepared to go to a different country to experience different football and we all wish him well.”

    Kemi Kings were not successful in their bid for promotion from the Kakkonen during the 2013 Season but look to be strong contenders in Tier 3 in 2014.
