Two Remain In Hospital After Recent Accidents

Two people remain in hospital after five people were injured in two separate accidents that occurred on Tuesday [Mar 25] afternoon in Warwick and Paget.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:35pm on Tuesday, March 25th first responders were dispatched to a reported motorcycle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Greendale Lane. There were traffic diversions and delays in the area following the incident.

“The injured motorcyclist, a 23 year old Warwick man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in stable condition on a general ward.

“A tractor trailer was being driven through the area at the time; however initial information at the scene suggested that no contact was made with the rider or the motorcycle involved.

“Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses traveling along Middle Road in the vicinity of Burnt House Hill around 3:30pm Tuesday are encouraged to contact PC Gavin Richardson at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

“Around 4pm on Tuesday, March 25th first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Paget near the junction with Manse Road.

“It appears that a car and a truck were being driven along Middle Road when they collided. As a result the car driver, a 40 year old Southampton woman and her three passengers, were injured.

“Apparently the Southampton woman was temporarily trapped in the car and had to be extricated by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel. However her injuries and those of the car’s three young passengers aged 17, 15 and 6, were not believed to be serious.

“They were all taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for medical treatment and at last check only the 15 year old remains at the hospital, recovering in stable condition on the children’s ward. There were no other injuries reported. Both vehicles received extensive front end damage. There were traffic diversions and delays in the area following the incident.

“Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses that have not yet come forward are encouraged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

    There was definitely contact made with my truck as the young man had severe neck and back injuries. No one actually saw how he made contact but you don’t get those injuries from just sliding in the road.
