ASW Law’s Mark Cran Called To Bermuda Bar

mark-cranASW Law Limited has revealed that Mark Cran [pictured left] has been called to the Bermuda Bar, the latest distinction in a legal career that has spanned more than 40 years.

A spokesperson said, “Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1973, Mark Cran was one of the most junior members of the Bar ever to be appointed Queen’s Counsel when he took silk in 1988.

“Recognised in various legal Directories as a leading silk in Commercial Litigation, he has specialised in major cases both in the UK and overseas, notably in extensive litigation in Switzerland and the BVI from 2005 through 2008.

“His litigation practice has resulted in many appearances in various courts and arbitration tribunals in several jurisdictions, as well as administrative, disciplinary and regulatory tribunals, public inquiries, and the European Court of Justice.

“He has a wide-ranging international litigation and arbitration practice embracing investigatory, advisory, and drafting work, as well as trials, inquiries, and arbitrations, and covering most areas of commercial activity including civil fraud, banking and financial services and regulation, insurance and reinsurance, contractual disputes of all kinds, substantial employment matters, and professional negligence.

“Mark Cran is also a specialist in entertainment and sports law and media disputes and has represented the likes of George Michael, Paul McCartney, Joan Armatrading, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. He is well-known as an advocate in major casino licensing hearings.

“Mark initially trained as an accountant and possesses a sound knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practice. He also sits as an Arbitrator and as a Recorder in both criminal and civil cases and holds a class 2 ticket enabling him to try serious crime. He is currently a door tenant of Brick Court Chambers and was a full tenant of Brick Court Chambers between 1974 and 2013.”
