The Yankees’ Jack Martin was strong at the plate and on the mound in helping the Yankees to victory over the Phillies with a final score of 7-3. Martin racked up 3 RBI’s on three hits , he had a Single in the first, third and fifth innings.

The Phillies couldn’t get anything going as long as Martin was on the hill. The Phillies managed just two hits off of Martin , who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his three innings of work.

The Yankees didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning and added two more runs in third when Martin kicked things off with a Single scoring Finn Smith. Three runs in the top of the fifth helped the Phillies close their deficit to 4-3.

An error and a two run Triple by James Ives gave the Phillies life. It didn’t take long for the Yankees to answer as they scored three runs of their own in the fifth. The Yankees scored on an RBI Single by Martin, a RBI Double by Leo Harris and an RBI Single by Nic Martin.

Cubs and Orioles needed an extra frame to settle the afternoon match, with the Orioles coming out on top 8-6. The games featured several lead changes, with the Orioles appearing to have the game in hand in the sixth. The Orioles led by two and despite Liam McCue throwing strikes, the Cubs managed to push two runs across. Sam Resnik kept the Cubs in it, with 3 strong innings, striking out 7.

The Orioles kept their cool and responded with two runs in the top of the seventh. McCue left nothing to chance and claimed three strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.

Caroline Driscoll was the game star for the Cubs, with the defensive play of the year to her credit. Playing a strong second base, she speared a hard hit ball, rolled once and came up firing to nip the Oriole runner at first. Driscoll also chipped in with the bat, driving in two runs. The young players on the Orioles flashed some leather, with Brett Baumgartner making a fine running catch in left field, and CJ Petty playing a solid second base.
