Eight People Deny Cannabis Importation Charge

May 1, 2014

Eight people appeared in the Supreme Court Monthly Arraignment Session today [May 1] where they denied conspiracy to import cannabis said to be worth some $5.9 million.

Iman Gibbons, Corte Gibbons, Shannon Trott, Damon Edwards, Brian Anderson, Dina Tucker, John Bernell Jefferies, and Darrin Virgil had all been charged back in August 2013.

At that time the Court heard the total amount of drugs was alleged to be 120 kilos [264lbs] with a stated street value of approximately $5.9 million. This was alleged to have happened between a date unknown and November 2012.

In Court today, Jefferis and Iman Gibbons both made unintelligible answers to the request for a plea and Justice Carlyle Greaves entered not guilty pleas on their behalf. The remaining six all said not guilty.

All eight defendants were bailed, and are set to return at the June Arraignments.
