Hiscox & BCB To Hold 11 & Under Cricket Event
The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] and Hiscox, the specialist insurer, have revealed plans for the 2014 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival. The Festival is designed to celebrate community-based 11 & Under cricket and to raise money for the BCB youth programs.
This year, the festival will take place on Saturday, June 7 at the National Sports Centre, North Field.
A spokesperson said, “The festival will include a League Skills and Drills Tournament at 8.45am, with a Kids Zone opening for use at 9.00am. Those activities will be followed by a free barbecue lunch, with a t-shirt stall opening at 12.00pm. The Kids Zone will include face painting, a bouncy castle, cricket games, and slide.
“The main event, a Celebrities versus U11 All-Star Team match, will begin at 1.00pm.
“The Celebrity Team will include Premier Michael Dunkley, Deputy Governor Ferson, Minister of Community and Cultural Development Wayne Scott, England International Rugby player Nick Abendanon, WWF Wrester John Layfield, Hiscox CEO Jeremy Pinchin, Power Girl Nadanja Bailey, DJ Bitsy ofHott 1075, and more.”
“This year we have some exciting raffle prizes, including two fabulous $500 travel vouchers courtesy of Watlington & Conyers, a two-night stay at Elbow Beach Hotel, $1,000 for legal services, a Last Will & Testament donated by Phoenix Law Chambers, and gift vouchers from Island Restaurant Group, Brunch at Fourways, Willow Stream Spa, TBI, BELCO, The Market Place, and Atelerie.
“Raffles can be purchased from the BCB, Charities House, 25 Point Finger Road. All proceeds will go towards the BCB Youth Programs, which provide free cricket programs to Bermuda’s youth, reaching boys and girls aged 5 through 19.”
Jeremy Pinchin, Chief Executive Officer of Hiscox Bermuda, said, “Sport, especially cricket, brings the best out of our children. Hiscox are pleased to help support the work of the Bermuda Cricket Board in providing facilities for the children of Bermuda to play cricket, enabling them to learn important life skills while having fun.”
Lloyd Fray, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, said, “The sixth annual 11 & Under Hiscox Celebrity Cricket Festival starts off with an exciting 11 & Under Skills and Drills Tournament to test the skills of all of Bermuda’s 11 & Under Players. All Hiscox 11 & Under teams are invited to compete in this prestigious tournament. Players and parents are invited to stay for the BBQ lunch and celebrity cricket game which starts at 1.00pm.”
