Hospital Path To Close During Construction

May 9, 2014

The Bermuda Hospital Board is alerting the public that the ongoing construction of the Acute Care Wing at KEMH will force the temporary closure of the path between the building’s main entrance and the Botanical Gardens.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Hospitals Board would like to inform the public that construction works of the Acute Care Wing will necessitate the closure of the access pedestrian path between the Botanical Gardens and the hospital’s main entrance.

“The closure will take place on Tuesday, May 13 and be in effect until further notice. Please note that a partial closure of the ground floor corridor will also be in place. The best way to access most hospital services will be through the main entrance.

“Those who have to access the hospital from the CCU Point Finger Road entrance will be directed to take the CCU elevator to the first floor, walk along the corridor and use the main elevator bank or stairwell to access all hospital services.

“Clear signage will be posted in the hospital to help guide the public. BHB and contractors Paget Health Services apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

That is very annoying for those of us in the immediate neighborhood who have endured the construction, to now lose our safe access to the Botanical Gardens – surely you can manage this with a bit more sensitivity to the community – please!

So, while we all have been told we are getting a new hospital, we are actually getting a new “Acute Care Wing”.

    Hasn’t anyone else noticed this?

    Another PLP farce.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are drowning in a sea of debt related to their two hospitals…..glorious examples of other failed PPP projects. Theirs was built before ours though. You’d think we could have learned from other’s mistakes.
