Man Charged With Touching 7 Year Old Girl
Appearing in Magistrates Court today [May 29], a 34 year old man was charged with sexually touching a 7 year old girl and intruding on her privacy. The offences were alleged to have occurred between 2004 and 2006.
The man — who cannot be named at this stage for legal reasons — was not required to enter a plea as the charges must be heard in the Supreme Court. Senior Magistrate Archie Warner granted him $25,000 bail and ordered he reappear for mention next month.

Their names must be released. This is insane!
If found guilty their names ARE released. They do not release them during the trial.
The “public” MUST have some “rights” in this arena – if the people charged are found guilty!!!

There is no statute of limitations for child sexual abuse. The victim has now bravely decided to speak up and this is very encouraging especially since the incidents occurred 8 – 10 years ago. Hopefully, more victims will speak up against their abusers. I applaud the victim for coming forward and hopefully more abusers should be seeing themselves in court soon. It’s one of the most terrible of crimes that mentally, emotionally, and physically never leave the victims.

This type of insane demonic sexual activity to Children seems to be going on a lot here lately.
It simply means that the punishment is not hard enough – also the Name of the individuals that do
this type of thing is never revealed.- Govt. has to make changes in the Laws.
The reporting of the sexual abuse against children that is clearly happening regularly in our community seems more like it is part of some sick soap opera that some people have come to live their lives by and not something that is abhorrent and needing to be stamped out. Why has there not been a campaign by the likes of The Family Centre or The Coalition for the Protection of Children? I just don’t understand.
Bermuda laws make no sense! I understand not releasing name during trial but after conviction!? #nowthatsludicrous

People, we live in a Democracy and have placed the Government there to work for us.. if we want a sex offenders registery we can have it.. so tired of all the chatter. No! Nothing trumps protection for the most vulnerable amongst us… unknown current and future victims. Everything must be done to identify predators.
Your forgetting that most of the time it’s not released it’s to protect the victims. These are usually cases where the perp is close enough the victim that identifying them identifies the victim. Bermuda is a small island and we all know how fast news travels.
I understand perfectly where you are coming from, but it’s hard to balance out informing the community and protecting victims. Can you imagine what it would do to a child if it came out at her school that she was a victim of a sexual assault?
i would rather people “think” they know or assume who the child is than other and more children continuously be put at risk for this as a result of lack of knowledge… they need to be exposed they r sick n people need to know who their children r around

There is a Facebook Page called BermudaPedo’s. Have a look there. They hv a lot of them listed on there. This is getting ridiculous!! They don’t know the affect that this type of indecent behaviour has on these children growing up. It’s so sad!!!

needs to make harsher laws for this type of criminal offense. – if not it’s going to get worse.
I don’t necessarily think these cases are on the rise per se. Reporting is on the increase I would certainly say because this type of behavior has been going on for DECADES!! A lot of the older generation would definitely agree!! It’s one of those taboos that was never spoken about. What goes on behind closed doors stayed behind closed doors! Was / is it the right thing to do?! Absolutely NOT!!! Those offenders need to be held fully responsible & accountable for their actions!!!
Solution? Harsher penalties do not work unfortunately! Treatment? Will have to be for life, in some / most cases!!!! I’m not sympathetic to these individuals, that lies squarely with the victims because they are / can be affected for life – especially in relationships! Anyway, that’s my two cents worth!
