Memorial Service Held For Dale Boorman

May 20, 2014

Dale BoormanFamily members today [May 20] joined friends and members of the motocross fraternity in celebrating the life of Dale “Stormin” Boorman who tragically lost his life in a Florida race track accident recently.

On May 6th, the 20-year-old racer was on the Moto X Raceway in Florida riding his motorbike north along the inside of the track when he was struck by another racer.

The service was held on the Botanical Gardens grounds and saw the eulogy read by former Bermuda Motocross Club president Jonathan Trott and “The Prayer” sung by Valerie Martins and Ronnie Lopes, with Toni Bari on keyboards.

After a time for reflection, memorial prayer and the closing blessing, white doves were released in front of those gathered.

Part of the eulogy read, “At 14 he wrote on his cousin Britany’s bedroom wall “Everybody dies, but not everyone lives”. We all know that Stormin Boorman lived and as a tribute to him, we will live each day to the fullest.”

Minister Wayne Scott previously paid tribute to the young racer, saying:  “On behalf of the Ministry of Community, Culture and Sports, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Dale Boorman.

“We were sad to learn of his passing this morning and our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Bermuda has lost a young and talented motocross rider. We hope that his passion and enthusiasm for the sport will be honoured and remembered by all.”

Shadow Sports Minister Michael Weeks said, “The passing of Dale Boorman is a tragedy and on behalf of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party, we extend condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Boorman.

“The family has lost a loved one, the motocross world has lost a key member of their sporting fraternity and Bermuda has lost an up and coming talent.”

You’re always going to get people trolling articles, even when the message is 100% positive. Don’t let it take away from those posting their messages of condolences or encouragement to the bereaved.
