May 5, 2014

photo may 3 2014[Updated] In a bid to help locate missing Canadian visitor Mr. William Grange, Cambridge Beaches will be having a search party leaving the main house of Cambridge Beaches on Tuesday [May 6] at 11am and then again at 6pm.

If anyone wishes to join they are more than welcome.

Mr. Grange arrived on the island late last week and was staying at the Cambridge Beaches resort in Sandys.

He has not been seen since Friday evening [May 2], and his son John Grange said he thinks that his father may have went for a walk and gotten confused on how to get back, and kept on walking.

The 67 year old Canadian suffers from short term memory loss, and his son said he may be hiding, and he has implored Bermudians to help look for his father.

He asked residents to look in their sheds, backyard and anywhere where someone may be able to hide.

The Bermuda Police Service has conducted both land and sea searches and said that locating Mr. Grange is a “critical priority.

He was last seen wearing beige pants, a blue shirt, brown jacket and brown shoes and is described as a white male, 5’9″ tall with white hair. Police have checked all ports of entry and said he has not officially left the island.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mr. William Grange is urged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 immediately, reporting all information.

Mr. Grange’s son, John Grange, speaks with the media earlier today

Update May 6, 8.30am: Police confirm that Mr. Grange has still not been located.

Bless each of you who can help find this soul. Wish I could be there to help! I commend the BPS for their reaction and action. Best luck!

  2. Think... says:

i’m not a detective but i would start to look at all surveillance video of businesses/houses surrounding Cambridge Beaches since May 2 to see what direction he was walking in. Businesses or persons with these camera’s should make them available for review…that would be a good start if it hasn’t already happened. it may point you in the direction he started to walk.
Let’s work together to find this gentleman asap.

  3. The Dark Knight Returns says:

Something doesn’t add up here. A Caucasian man in a foreign land and a land as small as Bermuda should not be able to go undetected for 3-4 days under these circumstances unless he has help. Does he have enough funds in his possession to support himself for several weeks? Does he have access to credit cards? Has the police checked the apartment at Cambridge Beaches where he was sharing with his wife (I would assume so) but just asking. If this gentleman is truly missing I pray for his safe return.

It takes all kinds to make the world go around and it’s unfortunate that there are buttholes like the Dark Knight around if he would quit flapping his gums and help with the search with any luck Bill will be found safe and sound.Bill has known our family for several years as he was our lawyer and he is a great person not only as a lawyer but as a friend

Dark night returns, mr.grange lives next door to my parents in ontario, canada. He has short term memory loss, he has unfortunately walked off and being somewhere unfamiliar does not know how to get home, he as his son John said is most likely scared and could very well be hiding being that everything is unfamiliar to him. There is definitely nothing suspicious in this situation or underlying, this gentleman is truly missing! We at home pray for his safe return! He is a good and kind hearted man!

  5. Oh no says:

    • Judy Hogan says:

  6. TGAOTU says:

i guess they call you Dark Knight because your brain is dimly lit.

I hope the poor man is found safe and sound, I will call police and suggest they use a sniffer dog to locate him based on his clothes and belongings with his wife. That is the best option.

did he have money on him? if he did he would have entered a nearby store to get food or water. did anyone consider that?

If no money, he would have tried to get food somewhere else. Someone has seen him, obviously. The man as far as we know just has a memory problem, and would not do something like walk into the ocean or jump somewhere dangerous.

I suggest that this man has probably sat in a public park on a bench for a while and enjoyed the mysterious beauty around him, and probably a bunch of clueless Bermudians had not the foggiest idea in their brains that this man looked like he was lost and needed help.

It is unlikely he is sleeping in the bushes like an animal, and is probably in a very logical place. He was not far from the police station either or gas station or restaurants or stores.

I will try to remote view tonight and see where he may be. God bless him!

    • Judy Hogan says:

i would like also to thank all the people for volenteering their valuable time in assisting in the search for this wonderful man

  7. me says:

I hope they find him soon and that he has been enjoying a dark n stormy and some Bermudian hospitality!
