Williams To Receive “Salute To Service” Award

On Friday, June 20, 2014 Bermuda Health Foundation will honour Mrs. Bernella Williams at the Foundation’s 12th Annual Salute to Service Awards Luncheon to be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel at 12:30 p.m.

Mrs. Williams was chosen as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Salute to Service award for her contribution to the community through her service as a registered nurse and an ardent worker at the Hamilton Seventh Day Adventist Church. Additionally, Mrs. Williams has raised eight sons who in their own right are outstanding Bermudians.

Other recipients of the “Salute to Service” Award include Mr. Reginald Burrows, Bruce Barritt, Bishop Vernon Lambe, Liz Boden, the Hon. Paula A. Cox, Dr. Clarence James, the Hon. Alf Oughton, Dr. Eugene Harvey, and Dr. Bert McPhee. Last year, Bermuda Health Foundation recognized Dr. Malcolm Brock for his contribution to medicine both internationally and in Bermuda.

At the same luncheon, Bermuda Health Foundation will also present scholarships to worthy Bermudians who pursuing careers in the healthcare field. Last year, through generous donations from Bermuda’s corporate and private sector, the Foundation was able to assist three Bermudian students to realize their dreams.

Kiara Baxter, Jasmin Caines and Chantae Hollis were each presented scholarships in the amount of $10,000.00 at the annual “Salute to Service” Awards luncheon. During the past eleven years, the Bermuda Health Foundation has provided over thirty Bermudian students pursuing careers in the medical field.

In addition to the “Salute to Service”, the Bermuda Health Foundation also hosts an Annual Charity Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will be played at Belmont Hills Golf Course on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Tickets are available at $125.00 each for the luncheon. Entrance fee for the golf tournament is $150.00 per person or $600.00 per team.
