Bermuda Lacrosse Team Defeats France

Bermuda has opening its showing at the FIL 2014 World Lacrosse Championships with a 9-7 win over France today [July 11], paving the way to their match versus Uganda tomorrow [July 12].

Bermuda lead the match from the onset, taking a three run lead by the halfway point. France had a stronger showing in the second half of the game, but wasn’t able to overcome the deficit that the Bermuda team had provided them with.

According to the official game recap, Bermuda’s goals came from Drew Jenkins [3], Stephen Kojima [2], Douglas Bell [2], and Stephen Michel [2], with Stephen Kojia also recording an assist.

The Bermuda squad will next face Uganda, who will face Ireland in their first match of the tournament later today [July 11]. Bermuda will also meet with the Irish team, facing them in their third game on July 13.

The World Lacrosse Championships sees 38 nations competing in nine divisions, with the semifinals taking place on July 17 and the championship game and closing ceremonies taking place on July 19.
