BHB: Win A Tour Of The New Acute Care Wing

July 7, 2014

You can win a tour of the new Acute Care Wing, the Bermuda Hospitals Board said today [July 7]. The public is invited to visit the free exhibition The Acute Care Wing: Design – Construction – Complete currently running at the Bermuda Society of Arts gallery on the top floor of City Hall.

A spokesperson said, “The exhibition highlights the design and construction aspects of the new wing – the Island’s largest ever construction project. Visit the gallery this week and complete a short questionnaire for your chance to win a tour of the new wing.

“Several spots are available so your odds at winning are better than most campaigns. Take your friends and family to the exhibit, get them to enter and you all could be winners.

“Attend the 20-minute lunchtime talks tomorrow at 12:15 and Thursday at 1:15 to increase your chances to win. Tuesday’s discussion will be with project managers Richard Noel and Jayne Craig on the types of plant equipment and machinery chosen as well as the considerations for future expansion of the hospital.

“On Thursday Marc DeVerteuil, senior engineer on the project, will give a presentation on the sewage treatment plant. Both talks will take place at the gallery. The Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm on weekdays and from 10am – 2pm on Saturdays.”

We can win a tour of a badly conceived, overly expensive wing of a hospital that was supposed to be an entirely new hospital?????

    Ooooohhhhh….where do I sign up?

    • Unbelievable says:

Stop being a negative nancy and keep ya mouth shut

      • aceboy says:

LOL. So you don’t object to being told we are getting a brand new hospital that we won’t have to pay for because it will pay for itself…only to find out it is a new “wing” of a hospital and that a charitable trust was set up to help pay for it?

You are good with that huh?

Tell you what, go to the second floor and ask to see where the generators are. They’ll point down the hallway. Yup, that is where the generators (that are incapable of running the hospital btw, they will have to power down non essential areas if there is a cut) can be found. INSIDE on the second floor. Not in the basement, outside or on the roof. INSIDE, where the per square footage cost is ridiculous.

You need to win this mate. You need to go see it for yourself.

        • Unbelievable says:

I don’t see why this is a big problem for anyone except for the fact that we can’t afford it.

The old hospital is inadequate so they had to build something new. Plans change and so now it’s a wing. I have seen that entire building, top to bottom, and its great facility. We are all going to be in there in one way or another so you better get used to it.

I’m not bothered by a generator. Lots other bigger things to worry about.

          • Unbelievable says:

So what’re you going to do? Not going to go there cuz of a damn generator on the 2nd floor? Is that your protest?

            • aceboy says:

So I should just keep quiet and be content?

You can win a tour of the new Acute Care Wing…are you kidding me??
Is this a hospital or a 5 star hotel.

    • Hmmmmm says:

It’s neither, you said it earlier in your post, “It’s an Acute Care Wing”.

It’s a new 90 bed wing to the existing hospital.

      GO FIGURE.

Win a tour of the acute care wing?…win …implies a gainful gift of sorts,I’m either being critical or factual…but if this isn’t an example of lowered expectations …then I just don’t have any conception of what that is….No ,thank you …I’ll pass. There are many, many…many things a person would consider winning….I am sorry, but that is not one of them….would you consider ….paying me for my time?
