The event is the pinnacle for junior squash in the Caribbean and provides the opportunity for Bermuda’s local talent to take on the best on their home courts at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association.

“Bermuda has multiple players in high seeding positions with every chance of winning medals” said BSRA Assistant Director & National Coach Runa Reta.

Young Bermudians to watch out for include Emma Keane in Girls under 19 who will have to beat Guyana’s number 2 ranked player to reach the semifinals.

Also in the mix for medals will be Dylan Pratt and Anaya Smith both seeded 3-4 in the Boys under 15 and 13 respectively. Charlotte Toogood will be looking to improve on her 4th place finish in 2013 in the Girls under 13 as will Olivia Lindsey in the Girls under 15.

Extremely tough draw in the Boys and Girls under 17 and Under 19 divisions will require some huge performances from Tiye Williams, Susanna Armano, Nazhir Smith, Dylan Muldoon, Beckett Simmons and Kion Knights.

The event is sponsored by Bank of Bermuda Foundation and Department of Youth & Sports, and is a huge undertaking on behalf of the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association.

The BSRA Director commented “It’s a great event that requires the efforts of a lot of people to pull it together. With over 140 people arriving in the next two days we are all thrilled and working hard to make this a great event”

Play begins following the official opening ceremony to be held at the BSRA on Sunday July 13. The individual championship runs for the first three days of the event with the finals to be held on the evening of Tuesday July 15. Following this teams of 5 players compete for each country over 4 days of competition for the team title from July 16-19.

Entrance for spectators is free and the BSRA invites everyone to come down and cheer on team Bermuda.
