Jersey Getting Ready For Next Island Games

jersey 2015 island gamesThe Chairman of the Bermuda Island Games Association, Jon Beard, and Secretary, Juanita Blee have just returned from the annual AGM of the International Island Games Association.

It was held in Jersey [Channel Island UK], who are the hosts for next year’s Nat West Island Games. Mr. Beard and Ms. Blee report that their facilities are in great shape, and the Games look as if they will be an excellent event. The running track will be resurfaced and the main football pitch is being transformed into a high-level 3G ‘turf’ pitch.

Mr. Beard said, “The accommodation set aside for Bermuda is excellent and we are hoping to take competitive teams to continue last year’s success. We were inundated with messages of thanks from the member islands to everyone in Bermuda for the hospitality and organization of last year’s Games. I was told innumerable stories of local people going out of their way time and time again to ensure our visitors had a great time.”

The website for the Games is well-populated jersey2015.com and the sports will be: archery, athletics, basketball, badminton, football, golf, cycling, sailing [and windsurfing], shooting, tennis, triathlon, table tennis, volleyball [and beach volleyball], swimming.
