Men’s U-23 Football Select Team Announced

The Bermuda Football Association has revealed the players and officials comprising the Men’s U-23 Select Team that will represent Bermuda in the 2014 US Soccer National Training Center Invitational Tournament.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda was fortunate to receive an invitation to this Tournament in late June. This opportunity can be considered an indicator that our improved results at all age levels, male and female, are being noticed throughout the region.

“Joining the coaching staff is Khano Smith, a former captain of the Bermuda National Team and former pro player in the MLS with the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls. Mr. Smith is currently working with the New England Revolution as a coach with their Academy Teams.

“He has made himself available to assist with this tour and we believe this is an excellent opportunity to begin his involvement with the Bermuda National program as a coach, with a view toward his development at this level for the future.

“The team departs Bermuda on July 12 and will play matches against Australia on July 14, the United States on July 16, and Chile on July 18, 2014. Bermuda fans will be able to view Bermuda’s July 18 match against Chile live online.

“The team’s players include Detre Bell, William White, Chae Brangman, Lejaun Simmons, Jahquill Hill, Dakai Grant [captain], Zaire Burchall, Rai Simons, Neil Donte Smith, Jibri Salaam, Jair Minors, Zeiko Lewis, Alanzo Parsons, Jalen Harvey, Tre Ming, Jaz Ratteray, Terrance Webb, Willie Clemons, Justin Donawa, and Mauriq Hill.

“The team’s officials include Head Coach Mr. Don Vickers, Assistant Coach Khano Smith, Physio specialist Amori Venter, Technical Advisor Mr. Mark Wade, and Head of Delegation Ms. Shequita Parson.”
