Seven More Medals At CISC Championships

Bermuda’s swimmers have racked up another seven medals while taking part in the 20th Caribbean Island Swimming Championships on Saturday [July 5] in Barbados.

Day three of competition saw Rebecca Heyliger capture a silver medal during the Girls 18 & Over 50m Freestyle final clocking a time of 27.00 while Lisa Blackburn won the bronze medal in the same event clocking 27.76. Heyliger went on to win a bronze medal in the Girls 18 & Over 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 31.62.

Ethan Daley won a bronze medal clocking 32.28 in the 11-12 Boy’s 50m Backstroke final while Shannon Hassell won the 13-14 Girls 50m Backstroke bronze medal clocking 32.35. The time qualified Hassell for the Canadian Age Group Championships.

Jesse Washington won the silver medal in the 13-14 Boy’s 50m Backstroke final with a time of 28.82. Washington’s time of 28.63 during the Preliminaries saw him set a new 13-14 Boy’s 50m Backstroke Bermuda record. Ashley Irby captured a silver medal when she clocked a time of 2:17.49 in the 11-12 Girls 200m Freestyle race.
