Staff Evacuate Global House After Tremors

July 3, 2014

Staff from within Government offices at Global House on Church Street evacuated the building twice this morning [July 3] after tremors were felt throughout the building.

Works and Engineering crews carried out an inspection of the property and staff say that a faulty air conditioning unit was the cause of the shaking. Staff have since returned to work without any further incident.

  1. Family Man says:

Oh FFS, the building is evacuated because of “tremors” from a vibrating air conditioner?

    Any excuse …

  2. BlueFamiliar says:

Wow, if the tremors were bad enough to cause evacuation, I’d have some sincere doubts that it could be from the vibrating of the AC.

And if it was, that sucker shouldn’t be running, unless they can narrow down the cause and fixed it.

    That’s just weird.

Maybe it was that person who used Gov’t credit cards a while back to make purchases from Victoria’s Secret finally getting around to trying out her merchandise ?

  3. Island Princess says:

    @Family Man

Well obviously they didn’t know it was a faulty air conditioner BEFORE they evacuated the building and they had every right to err on the side of caution. It would’ve been a totally different outcome if the building was on the verge of collapse and the workers remained inside.
    Get over your cynical self!!!

On another note…Govt Offices in the City of Hamilton were closed last week because of rain…the buildings got wet!

  5. bluebird says:

The staff are very sensitive to any noise and will leave for any reason.
But dont worry Goverment still has (31) unoccupied buildings that they could move into.Besides paying $11Million per year in “RENT”.
The Goverment consumes $1.1Billion dollars per year and yet we only have about $800Million dollars per year comming in.
the POOP and the FAN are gradully moving closer together.
And the “YOUNG PEOPLE” should realize how the PLP/BIU have screwed their future with the increadable “DEBT” they left them.

It sounds as thogh staff at Global house need AA….they have a nifty 12 step program….an dey need all twelve of them.It sounds like a panick attack associated with either jimsom weed or alcohol…..just gidat jungle juice a break….

EVERYTHING does NOT have to be political……I don’t see how a building evacuation pertains to politics……nonetheless glad to hesr that all is well……

Maybe it was god in the church next door banging his fist on the table in frustration at the constant lack of productivity in the building next door!

  14. Common Sense Talking says:

It is beyond belief that the majority of the comments following this story are nonsensical. From a Government worker who works in Global House and knows first hand of the constant pluming problems, putrid smells, lack of proper ventilation and a long list of unsatisfactory work conditions that we encounter daily, it would be better suited if you kept quiet instead of making stupid remarks about matters of which you have no clue.

  15. James says:

Any excuse for some time out of the office!
It is not as if we are talking about a skyscraper here. It is only a small building.
It looks pretty swish to me!

  16. Justice! says:

It was the pulse of Bermuda’s approximately 5,000 mile underwater volcano that was felt. For the LOVE of Bermuda, I wonder how many PRC holders would wish to remain on de rock when she/he really starts climaxing? All roads would lead straight to LF Wade International Airport and every ticket would be one-way.

  17. Common Sense Talking says:

@James and all of the other jerks that the shoe fits! “A small building” really? A single story building could fall and cause death. If the people did stay in the building and it fell causing loss of life you all would be the same nincompoops following the story criticizing “why weren’t they told to evacuate the building?” Short memories, small brains, the workers in the World Trade Center were told to go back in the building as well and look what happened to most of them. Hundreds more could have survived if they were given the right information, many of those that disobeyed orders and evacuated anyway survived. SMH
