Evangelical Church’s Movie Night Postponed

August 15, 2014

[Updated] The Evangelical Church of Bermuda, located at #1 Mission Road in Paget, is getting set to host a double-feature movie event tonight [Aug 15], beginning at 8.15pm, with a giant outdoor screen on the Church field to provide the visuals.

The first movie to be shown will be The Lost Medallion, and the second movie will be God’s Not Dead. This free event will feature popcorn, ice cream, and beverages for those in attendance.

According to the synopsis for The Lost Medallion, “Archaeologist Dr. Michael Stone looked for the lost medallion his entire life, and now his son Billy has taken up the search. Amazingly, the medallion ends up in Billy’s hands and a spontaneous wish in a precarious situation takes Billy and his best friend Allie, back 200 years to what they realize is a very different Aumakua Island.”

Official “The Lost Medallion” trailer:

“When Billy and his friends are not jumping off waterfalls, avoiding animal traps, crossing the ocean, sneaking through caves or escaping a prison they’re facing their nemesis Cobra, who wants nothing more than for them all to disappear. With no other way to get home, and the wellbeing of the entire island resting on his shoulders, Billy must discover the key to reclaiming the medallion and its tremendous power.

“One way or another, this adventure will change Billy, and life on the island, forever.”

According to the synopsis for God’s Not Dead, “Radisson finds the topic of religion painful because his Christian mother died when he was 12, though he had prayed and begged God to spare her life.

“This may be what led him to study philosophy so in depth that he ultimately became a philosophy professor, but his desire to now avoid the topic of religion does not mesh well with his career as a philosophy professor.”

Official “God’s Not Dead” trailer:

“His anger at God has him requesting his students quote Friedrich Nietzsche and, in exchange, he promises to allow them to skip the chapter on religion. This is not the only clue the movie makers give that they have read atheist material extensively. Radisson tells Josh that if he won’t reach a consensus with the class, he must prove God is not dead.”

Update 3.58pm: The movie night has been postponed due to inclement weather, with a new date to be determined.
