August 25, 2014

On Wednesday, August 20 at 6.25pm, a local pleasure boat with seven people aboard had to be towed after its engine failed and it was left adrift in water too deep to anchor in.

A spokesperson from the Bermuda Maritime Operations Center said, “The local pleasure boat Liquid Asset was reported as disabled off Clearwater Beach, St. David’s, with seven persons on board.

“The 26-foot powerboat was disabled with engine failure and adrift in water too deep to anchor.

“Bermuda Radio arranged a commercial tow and a local commercial operator was on scene assisting at 7.30pm. The vessel operator was reminded of regulations requiring carrying a working VHF Radio when operating outside the reefline.

“The vessel was safely towed into St. George’s Harbour.”
