Investigating Case Of “Undifferentiated Fever”

August 26, 2014

The Department of Health is advising the public that it is “currently investigating a case of undifferentiated fever in a person with a history of travel to regions in which Chikungunya is present.”

A Department of Health spokesperson said, “We would like to reiterate that in relation to Chikungunya, this would be considered a suspected case, but Chikungunya, and other possible illnesses, have not been confirmed.

“The Department of Health continues to work with regional and local health partners to ensure monitoring of diseases of public health importance.”

According to the Centre for Disease Control [CDC] website, “Chikungunya is a virus is transmitted to people by mosquitoes. The most common symptoms of chikungunya virus infection are fever and joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.

“Outbreaks have occurred in countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Indian and Pacific Oceans. In late 2013, chikungunya virus was found for the first time in the Americas on islands in the Caribbean. There is a risk that the virus will be imported to new areas by infected travelers.

“There is no vaccine to prevent or medicine to treat chikungunya virus infection. Travelers can protect themselves by preventing mosquito bites. When traveling to countries with chikungunya virus, use insect repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, and stay in places with air conditioning or that use window and door screens.”

Lets get it right. Did this person come by plane or boat/ship? from the U.S.A. or Europe?

      What difference does that make?

The article outlines the countries where one could pick it up, as well as the symptoms. Why do you need to know where this suspected case was picked up? It could have been from ANY of the places mentioned.

Where the person got it or how they travelled won’t change the outcome.

Zaire Ebola’s lurking right round de corner. Not if but when that virus lands here we’ll be Jammin’ and so will the Health Department. They’ll earn their pay then! That’s why the Western World should be throwing all it’s money at Africa right now to stop it. Be prepared Bermy!! Noffin’ to worry about chikungunya virus unless you get bit by a mosquito that has bitten a person with the virus. Ebola on the other hand is a hemorrhagic fever virus that will bleed you dead from all holes in your body and liquify your insides. Not a pretty way to leave this planet.
