August 20, 2014

At approximately 3.38pm on Tuesday [Aug 19] the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a cycle fire on South Road near the junction with Middle Road in Paget.

The bike was completely destroyed by the fire, and a nearby building also suffered some damage as a result of the blaze. The rider apparently indicated that he stopped the bike after seeing smoke and as he stepped off the bike it burst into flames.

Fire Service spokesperson Sergeant Russann Francis stated that “the vehicle was reportedly engulfed in flames.” The Fire Service responded to the incident with one vehicle staffed with 4 firefighters. No one was hurt as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
