BII Hosts Annual Student Recognition Luncheon

September 18, 2014

On September 16, 2014, the Bermuda Insurance Institute [BII] hosted their annual Student Recognition Luncheon, with more than 100 persons receiving well over 100 designations, as several people attained more than one designation.

Guests at the event were welcomed by Andrew Soares, Chairman of the BII Governing Council, while Don Kramer, Chairman of ILS Capital Management Ltd and industry veteran provided the key note address after he was introduced by Shannon Totten, Vice-Chairman of the BII Governing Council.

A spokesperson said, “Mr. Kramer’s remarks were insightful and relevant. He shared statistics that support Bermuda’s strong position in the insurance/reinsurance industry. He also discussed the wisdom of learning from our mistakes. He closed with a poem titled, “The Builder” which speaks of paving the way for those who will come after you on life’s journey.”

BII CEO Dr. Dawnnelle Walker spoke of the overwhelming support the BII receives from its membership both financially and via volunteerism, and noted that the insurance and reinsurance industry has a “learning culture and a culture of community support” and as a result, the BII is able to exist and “provide a valuable service to its members and the Bermuda community.”
