“Docs For Dinner” To Be Held On Sept 25th

Bermuda HealthCare Services and Brown-Darrell Clinic will be hosting their quarterly “Docs for Dinner” event on Thursday September 25, 2014 at Café Lido.

Dr. Leonard Teye-Botchway, President of the Bermuda International Eye Institute and from Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Massachusetts, Dr. Michael Levy, Chief, Section of Vascular Medicine, will be the speakers. Over thirty doctors are expected to attend the presentation and receive Continuing Medical Education credits.

A spokesperson said, “Dr. Leonard Teye-Botchway, JP is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with 16 years of comprehensive ophthalmic experience in Bermuda. His expertise includes advanced cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, laser management of diabetic retinopathy, and management of glaucoma, uveitis and external eye diseases.

“Born in Ghana, he received his MBChB from the University of Ghana Medical School. He was awarded the Boulter Fellowship Award by the Ophthalmology, Moorefields Eye Hospital – London, UK. He is the leader in the delivery of ophthalmic care in Bermuda, and for a period of time was the sole ophthalmic surgeon and physician on the island.

“Michael Levy, MD, joined the staff of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, in Burlington, Massachusetts, in November 2013, and serves as the Chief, Section of Vascular Medicine. He received his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and completed his internship and internal medicine residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

“He then completed fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and trained in advanced fellowships in Interventional Cardiology, Vascular and Endovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
