Saturday: PLP To Host Back To School Event
Constituencies 14, 15, 16 and 21 of the Progressive Labour Party invite the public to Victor Scott Primary field this Saturday September 6th for a Back to School event.
A spokesperson said, “The Progressive Labour Party believes strongly in the value of educating Bermuda’s young people; they are the youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow.
“We invite Bermuda’s young people to come out from 12 noon until 4:00pm and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with MP’s Walter Roban, Michael Weeks, and Rolfe Commissiong. Activities will include fun castles, music, and plenty of fun and games. There will be school supply giveaways for area residents.”
This event was originally scheduled for Saturday, August 23, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Yet they cut the funding just like every governing party that has been in so far. WTF! Education is the key has always been the key and will always will be the key.

Why not anyone who attends?
If someone takes their kids there, how do you tell them, that they can’t have any supplies.
I think you should change that.
I know of some people who openly brag how they go to all the giveaway events like this and get free stuff for their kids. One person lived in Somerset and dragged her 4 children to every event/giveaway that was going on for free supplies etc. for her children. I think the PLP members should inquire from the parents if they are in their areas.
This is really the only chance for PLP to ever get re-elected. Indoctrinate (brainwash) people too young to know any better.
It works for religion – why not PLP? Of course they have something in common – they are both full of BS.
Not unique to the PLP to have sponsored events. The UBP used to host a beach kite flying activity. Should that be considered brainwashing or indoctrination?
Should political parties stop funding events for the community?
What sort of lessons do you think are being taught to our kids by all of these “freebie/giveaway” events? If you want to succeed in life, you need to work hard, plain and simple. By giving away free school supplies, the mothers, and by extension their children, are being taught they don’t need to work for it because someone will give them what they need. There is no responsibility, there is no hard work, yet everyone wants to get something for nothing. And that is the root of quite a lot of the problems we face in our community.
Just like a few comments said above, i no doubt believe that mothers take their kids all around these events just to see how much they can get!
@ hmmmm I was thinking the same thing. They had me attending until I read that part about handouts to area residents. They better change that by tomorrow or no one should attend. SMDH
Offer something free & they will come. The catch is, you have to listen to the indoctrination, sorry ‘education’, first before the it is free handout time.
