BTC Estimated Repair Progress Now At 73%

October 31, 2014

Following restoration efforts after the two storms, BTC said they “have estimated repair progress to be in the range of 73%, with a total of 316 cables damaged, some of which provided service to hundreds of customers.

“Service to all Exchange’s and remote sites has been restored and with cable restoration well underway, focus can now be placed on repairing individual faults.”

Eric Dobson, CEO of BTC stated, “The level of damage caused by these two storms has been far worse than anything we’ve seen in the past decade. We’d like our customers to know that we are doing our very best to get their services restored as quickly as possible and appreciate the patience they have exhibited.”

Cable restoration completed by parish is as follows:

  • St. George’s: 84%
  • Smith’s: 50%
  • Hamilton: 84%
  • Devonshire: 74%
  • Pembroke: 68%
  • Paget: 67%
  • Warwick: 80%
  • Southampton: 72%
  • Sandy’s: 79%

BTC added, “Service delivery and cable crews continue to identify pockets of areas that have been impacted and are addressing these systematically, focusing on those that impact multiple customers, the elderly or infirmed first.

“BTC would like to remind the public that facility restoration is performed by multiple teams, so should they not have service restored after seeing workers in the area they should not assume they have been overlooked.”
