Menuhin Foundation’s “World Of Wines”

October 3, 2014

The Menuhin Foundation is getting set to host “Passport to a World of Wines,” an event that will feature musical performances, auctions, wine tasting, and much more.

Set to take place on October 4, 2014, from 6.30pm to 9.00pm at the Beau Rivage Restaurant and Bar at Newstead Belmont Hills, the event will feature wines paired with the regional cuisines of France, Italy, Spain, and California, with musical performances by Menuhin Foundation scholarship students Liam Peniston and Gabriel Jones, along with the Menuhin Quartet.

The event will also include a silent auction, a live action, and more. Tickets cost $125 each and can be purchased at bdatix.bm.

A spokesperson said, “The Menuhin Foundation is a registered charity that was established in 1976 in order to promote the playing of musical instruments among Bermuda’s children. Since that time, they have provided both private tuition and, more importantly, children’s programmes within the public school system which introduce the joy of playing stringed instruments to those children who might never otherwise have such an opportunity.

“The positive influence on Bermuda’s children of the Foundation’s work goes far beyond simply teaching them to play a stringed instrument. Through the in-school programmes, the children learn valuable skills of self-expression, self-discipline and respect, together with the long acknowledged benefits that such music brings to their academics.

“In order to continue to fund and, ideally, to help expand the nature of the programmes currently available through The Menuhin Foundation, the Foundation is looking for continued support. As with all charities in recent times, The Menuhin Foundation has also found itself in the position where it needs to both bolster and expand its network of supporters.”

“This event is the Foundation’s first major fundraiser of this nature. The team at Beau Rivage led by the talented and celebrated Jean-Claude Garzia, together with the team at Discovery Wines, have pooled their talents to make this event a success.

“The theme of the evening is travel and the aim is to take people on a trip through the regions of France, Italy, California and Spain so that they can sample both culinary delights from those regions together with carefully selected and paired wines.

“The Menuhin Quartet has also chosen music to complement the theme by choosing various pieces of music from those same regions, and the talents of The Menuhin Foundation’s scholarship students, Gabriel Jones and Liam Peniston, will also be showcased on the night.

“During the evening, there will be other opportunities to support the Foundation which include live and silent auction events. Jean-Claude Garzia has generously donated the chance to bid on a dinner at the chef’s table. This is one of many items which will be available on the evening.

“The team at Discovery Wines will also be on hand to help with purchases of any of the wines tasted that people would like to take home with them or have delivered to them free of charge at a time of their choosing.

“Any questions about the event can be directed to one of the Trustee organisers, Nadia Hamza at nadiawhamza@gmail.com or on 734-6237.”
