Motorcyclist Injured In Single Vehicle Accident

[Updated] A motorcycle rider was hospitalised early this morning [Oct 16] after being involved in a single vehicle accident on South Road in Devonshire.

Emergency services attended the scene at approximately 12am when the injured rider was transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police diverted traffic away from the area while traffic collision investigators processed the accident scene with traffic flow allowed to resume at approximately 3am. Details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.

Update 11.57am: A police spokesperson said, “Around 12:10am on Thursday, October 16th first responders attended a reported single vehicle motorcycle collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Tee Street.

“The injured motorcyclist, a 51 year old Hamilton parish man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit.

“Inquiries regarding this collision are ongoing and any witnesses that have not already come forward are encouraged to contact PC Ian Scotton on the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

    I’ve seen some fools riding bikes at breakneck speeds right after Tropical Storm Fay even with all the debris still on the roads. Not saying this guy was speeding but everybody should slow the hell down!!!
