Children’s Reading Festival On November 22nd

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Bermuda Alumnae Chapter is celebrating 15 years of promoting literacy throughout the island on Saturday, 22nd November.

A spokesperson said, “This event allows us to give each attendee one book, enjoy the day listening to readers and interacting with some of our local authors. All activities in the park are free; face painting, fun castles, popcorn and drinks are all free. Other vendors will also be available.

“The Department of Health’s Speech-Language Pathologist from Child Development and the School Base Teams will be available to provide strategies to promote stronger expressive and receptive language skills, as well as give general information of normal speech and language development,

“Oxford Learning Center will be available to share their program goals and targeted audience. A representative from the Junior Youth Library will be in attendance for any child who wishes to join.

“An exciting new Middle School initiative is available this year through the Ministry of Education. Persons from the Ministry as well as representatives from Pearson will be available to discuss the details with M1-M3 students and parents.

“Puppeteer, Mr. Anthony Peets, will be providing entertainment during one of our hourly readings. And as a special tribute to our 15th year, Bermuda Alumnae Chapter will be donating books to a select primary school.”
