Bermuda’s November Social Media Rankings

November 12, 2014

[Written by Don Burgess] Former WWE champ and FOX news commentator John Layfield remains the most influential person in Bermuda on social media.

Mr Layfield has a Klout score of 86, seven points higher than singers Heather Nova and Collie Buddz, who are tied for second with 79.

Premier Michael Dunkley is the only politician on our list, while Bernews is the top business.

Klout is a website and mobile app that uses a variety of social media to rank users as to their online influence with a “Klout Score”. The scores run from 1 to 100. US president Barack Obama is one of the few people who have achieved a perfect score and currently has a 99 rating.

Klout uses Facebook, Foursquare, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Wikipedia to determine a person’s score.

A person could have many followers on Twitter, but if many of the accounts are spam or fake followers, that will then count against a person’s score.

It also takes into account how influential the people who retweet you are and how many retweets you get. Getting 100 retweets from 100 different people is worth more than 100 retweets from the same person.

Klout does have its critics who would say a person’s online influence is impossible to measure or not truly indicative of a person’s real social media influence. All the scores below were taken over November 7-9.

If you have a Klout score of 53 or higher and were not on this list, please e-mail Don Burgess at dburgesspb@gmail.com.
