On Friday evening [Dec 12], a 41-year-old man was injured during an altercation on Front Street, with members of the public providing first aid to the victim before he was taken to hospital via ambulance.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:50pm on Friday, December 12th first responders were dispatched to a report of an injured man on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.

“It appears that a 41 year old Devonshire man was standing with a 21 year old Warwick man on the sidewalk outside Port O’ Call restaurant when two unknown men approached and an altercation occurred.

“Apparently during the incident the Devonshire man was pushed and fell, striking his head on the pavement. The unknown duo then fled the scene on foot.

“Members of the public provided first aid to the victim before he was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“The injured Devonshire resident was still at the hospital receiving further medical assessment when officers spoke with him on Saturday.

“Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses that have not already come forward, including persons who were in the vicinity of Port O’ Call on Front Street around 9:45pm Friday when the confrontation occurred between two pairs of white men, should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
