Bermuda Woman Jailed For 4 Years In Guyana

January 28, 2015

A Bermuda woman has been jailed for four years in Guyana after being convicted of attempting to smuggle cocaine onto an outgoing flight to the United States, two reports from the Guyana press have said.

Njere Fubler admitted to ingesting a total of 551 grams of cocaine when she appeared before the Courts in Guyana, with the reports saying Ms. Fubler attempted to smuggle the cocaine pellets onto an outgoing flight bound for JFK airport in the United States.

Facebook post from the official Guyana Police Force page confirming the arrest earlier this week:

A search “unearthed suspicious-looking pellets in the woman’s purse and upon further examination discovered that the pellets contained what appeared to be the illicit substance, ” the report added.

“As a result, Fubler was subject to interrogation during which she admitted to swallowing cocaine pellets. The woman was subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she excreted a total of 68 pellets after she was administered laxatives to assist with the process.”

After entering a guilty plea, Ms Fubler  – who told the Court she was sentenced to four years in prison and fined $1,480,700 Guyanese dollars, which is approximately $7,200 Bermuda dollars.

      Translation:
I’m an uneducated fool and I blame the OBA for this because I’m incapable of thinking for myself, and have no ability to string a coherent sentence together.

Well people keep in mind everyone here always pleads not guilty so hence the long process with our justice system. She entered a guilty plea so no need to waste the courts time.

To don’t kill me. Maybe you should do some research before you spout off. Or could it be this is a relative or friend of yours that you are afraid for. Just do a search on Guyanese Prisons.

  17. MAKE MY DAY says:

Never mind the fine…. Four years in a Guyanese prison are going to “kill her”!! They are NOT soft BDA down there!!

They make prison “real tough” in that neck-of-the-woods!! I bet she NEVER gets involved with illegal drug smuggling again – after she has done her “time”!!

PS: Guyana is located in northern S. America on the coast – next to Venezuela Suriname and Brazil and it was once a Brit colony!!

  18. I love Njere!!! says:

Thats what you call living life!!!! I love you Njere your family and real friends love you..soon we will see your beautiful face again..you will have learned a lot, become more wiser, built new family in Guyana you will have learned to love like your own family!!!!
