Ministry Updates Public On Garbage Collection

January 28, 2015

The Waste Management Section of the Ministry of Public Works is advising the public that while household garbage remains uncollected, the public is encouraged to take household waste, recycling, and bulky items to the Tynes Bay Public Drop Off facility.

A spokesperson said, “The Drop Off facility will extend hours until 7.00pm tonight [Jan 28] and will be open from 7.00am to 7.00pm tomorrow [Jan 29] and Friday [Jan 30] to assist the public with waste disposal.

“The Waste Management Section can also advise that the Airport Waste Management Facility and Marsh Folly Composting Facility are open to accept bulky metal waste and horticultural waste respectively.

“We will continue to provide the public with updates regarding waste collection as they become available.”

  1. Yahoo says:

You want the taxpayer to take their own trash to the dump (which is now stinky and wet) in our own vehicles?

I’d be happy to take my trash to the dump all the time if you agree to fire every single trash collector employed by W&E. There’s my shared sacrifice that the BIU is looking for…

  2. Y-Gurl says:

Don’t worry, historically these people get paid overtime after they walk off the job so our trash will probably be picked up at the weekend, so they make back any financial loss for illegal walk outs.. But this will also apply to people like BTC and other services……..great system

So having already paid taxes for this service, I now have to take my garbage to Tynes Bay myself?!?! Can I get a refund?!?!

  5. Devonshire Bermudian says:

Fifty eight bags of trash near my house; how do I know which was/is mine?

  6. expat point of view says:

This system seems to emulate the defunct US Congress all too well. Anything to bring down the country for the sake of those who lost the election?

What can be done for ALL of the beautiful people of Bermuda to work together toward a common goal of growth, prosperity and possibly even world recognition of a country who can break the mold of this hideous partisanship?

Many of you say Government workers don’t do anything, well … to those of you, this is what doing nothing looks like – and that smell, phew it’s YOUR trash piling up! I thank the Waste Management Section/Public Works for collecting my garbage today – first day back on the job, my neighbourhood looks great! #ProudToBeBermudian #HardGovernmentWorker
