Tucker Pleads Guilty To Cultivating Cannabis

January 8, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Jan 8], a 39-year-old man pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis plants in September of last year.

Shannon Tucker pleaded guilty to cultivating the plants at a Broken Hill Lane Smith’s residence, with the Court hearing the plants had a total weight of 2.63 grams of cannabis.

Prosecutor Maria Sofianos told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that on 5th September 2014, police observed Mr Tucker being driven up to the house in a car driven by someone else, and Mr. Tucker entered the house and came back out carrying a case with several plants showing. Police confiscated the plants and took Mr Tucker in for questioning.

Mr Tucker told the Magistrate that he had not been growing the plants with any intent to supply cannabis, he was currently employed as a cleaner, was getting married on Sunday coming; that he was once a heroin user but had kicked that habit; and that he thought that laws concerning growing and using cannabis for medical purposes had recently been passed.

The Magistrate ordered SIR and BARC reports and adjourned the matter to next month.
