Woman Injured During Attempted Robbery

January 6, 2015

A local woman is recuperating from injuries sustained after a would-be thief attempted to grab her purse while she was out walking, resulting in her being dragged along the street.

The woman and her husband were out walking at around 9.00pm this weekend, and when they were at the junction of Harrington Sound Road and Flatts, the suspect — who was travelling on a motorcycle heading east — approached from behind and attempted to grab the woman’s purse which resulted in her being dragged along the road.

The suspect then escaped, and while he did not get away with the purse, he left the victim with various injuries from being dragged along the road, including abrasions and bruising.

“We obviously were disturbed with this crime,” the victim and her husband told Bernews. “And we would like to ensure all possible means of obtaining further information on this incident…so would ask any possible witnesses contact the Bermuda Police.”

Anyone with any information about this incident should contact the police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Yep – you can always count on someone blaming the OBA for crime, speeding, whatever…… anyone other than the actual perpetrator!

    • Kim Smith says:

I would believe you if I was able to verify said hunger. There are some who would cry the same while driving in an SUV talking on their cell phone. Sorry, there is NO excuse for such abuse.

    • Let there be hope says:

How is this an OBA problem, when it was PLP that put us into debt. Also more then likely it was a hunger for drugs not food.

      • sorry, what? says:

How is this a government problem at all? have you been to the stores here lately or tried to get someone at a business to follow through on what you are asking for? The problem is NOT the government, it’s the work ethic. There are no jobs because businesses are closing because people are taking their business overseas. Customer service in this country is DEAD. The government didn’t do that.

    • Truth is killin' me... says:

OBA is not there to wipe your bum, change your diaper and feed you with a spoon.
      Stop making excuses for scum.

Those who steal will always steal. If you think it is okay to take something that does not belong to you, then you will do it regardless of the economy. That is an excuse! I have had many times when things were rough and I never stole because of the hardship I was experiencing. That is how I was raised. respect other people and respect their property.
