St. Paul AME Church Opens Lenten Season

February 18, 2015

The Lenten Season officially begins today [Feb 18], Ash Wednesday, with the St. Paul AME Church opening the period with a Shrove Tuesday feast and fellowship last night.

Following up on the feast, Ash Wednesday will be marked with a special worship service starting at 7.30pm in the sanctuary, with all welcome to take part “as the season of fasting, renewal and sacrifice is marked with worship.”

Pastor of St. Paul Rev. Nicholas Tweed said, “Ash Wednesday is a symbolic moment through worship, designed to focus on journeying through Lent leading to a fuller understanding of Good Friday and Easter.”

The Ash Wednesday observances will be followed up by the annual Men’s Day, set to be held on Sunday, February 22 at 10.55am and 4.00pm, with Rev. Dr. Willian Watley serving as the guest speaker.
