Butterfield Group Receives Euromoney Awards

February 5, 2015

Butterfield Group today [Feb 5] announced that it has received awards for Net-Worth-Specific Services for Super Affluent Clients in the Cayman Islands, and for Succession Planning Advice and Trusts in Guernsey in the 2015 Euromoney Private Banking and Wealth Management Survey.

The annual Euromoney Private Banking and Wealth Management Awards, which are decided by a vote of private banking professionals from around the globe, are among the most prestigious wealth services industry awards.

Recipients are recognised as offering the leading private wealth services and products in their respective markets. Established in 1969, Euromoney magazine has worldwide readership with monthly circulation of more than 63,000. It is considered the preeminent journal of the international finance community.

The Euromoney awards come on the heels of other prestigious industry accolades conferred recently upon Butterfield Group companies. Butterfield received recognition recently from UK-based publisher of wealth-management industry news and directories, Citywealth, at its International Financial Centre Awards ceremony in London on 21 January, being named runner up in the categories of Best Caribbean Private Bank, Best Caribbean Trust Company and Best Guernsey Trust Company.

In December 2014, Butterfield was also named Bank of the Year in both Bermuda and the Cayman Islands for the second consecutive year by industry publication, The Banker.

Brendan McDonagh, Butterfield’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, said, “We are pleased to have been recognised by our peers in the wealth management industry with these prestigious awards. Butterfield Group is focused strategically on growing our wealth management services globally, and within the last year, we completed important acquisitions of businesses that were complementary to our existing services in key markets.

“This has deepened our in-house expertise and broadened our market reach. The recognition we have received from publications including Euromoney, Citywealth and The Banker are reflective of the success of our strategy, and the respect that our peers and clients have for the wealth management team we have assembled.”

Bob Moore, Butterfield’s Executive Vice President and Head of Group Trust, said, “The ongoing development of Butterfield’s multi-jurisdictional trust and fiduciary services businesses, through separately incorporated companies in The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Switzerland, provides a cornerstone for the Group’s overall growth strategy.

“In Guernsey, we substantially increased our market presence with the 2014 acquisition of the Legis Group’s trust and corporate services business, expanding our capabilities and doubling our revenues within the jurisdiction, which has contributed to the accolades we have received.”

Mr. Moore continued, “A commitment to our teams’ continual development of their technical expertise, and to the delivery of focused, high-quality fiduciary solutions encompassing both financial and non-financial assets, and responding effectively to evolving legislation and client needs, have also driven organic growth.”
