Education Minister Visits The Berkeley Institute
Minister of Education Wayne Scott and Permanent Secretary Valerie Robinson James last week visited The Berkeley Institute to meet with the administration and student leaders.
Minister Scott met with School Principal, Dr Phyllis Curtis-Tweed and had an in-depth discussion about different ways to improve the Public School System moving forward. However, the main focus of his visit was to meet with the students.

Minister Scott said, “Following my discussion with the CedarBridge Academy students, I was keen to sit down with the Berkeley students to answer any questions they had regarding the future of education in Bermuda. It was a very lively session; the students had many questions and offered some great suggestions.
“Overall they expressed their concern about budget cuts and the effect on their schools; the need for a consistent curriculum throughout middle and high school; that A Levels should be offered to better prepare students for entry into UK Colleges and the students expressed their concern that America’s Cup may overshadow the Government’s commitment to public education.”
Minister Scott added, “We spent a good deal of time talking about budget, job creation and moving Bermuda forward in the midst of a recession. I really appreciated sitting down with these students.
“Their feedback was excellent. It also gave me an opportunity to express this Government’s commitment to improving public education so that our students can graduate and work and compete in the ever evolving global market.”
Minister Scott continued his school visits this morning at Harrington Sound Primary.
