Gladwin Phillips “Sensei Roots” promoted the 20th edition of his karate tournament on Sunday [Feb 15] with most junior categories subscribed, with Dominique Brown achieving a triple first place by entering all three divisions of forms, weapons and sparring.

Forms grand champions were Daniel Lee [novice boys], Justin Ebbin [intermediate boys], Rhianna Pitcher [novice girls], Ryley Mason [intermediate girls] and Troy Brangman [black belt men].

Sensei Roots expressed his appreciation to his own sensei, GM Skipper Ingham, and took the occasion to celebrate Ingham’s upcoming 85th birthday.

The Shotokan Karatedo School received a $200 prize from the tournament for entering the most competitors in the event.  Ingham also presented Phillips with his hachidan certificate, or 8th degree black belt.
