Three Bus Runs Will be Cancelled On Tuesday
The cancellation of bus runs continue, with the Department of Public Transportation providing the list of bus service cancellations for tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
The cancellations have been an ongoing issue lately, with Transport Minister Shawn Crockwell explaining that, “The Department of Public Transport currently has 10 bus operators who are out on long term sick leave and the service has been further impacted by operators out sick during this cold and flu season. In addition, the department has implemented a ban on overtime and the combination of these factors is impacting the scheduling of bus runs.”
The list, as provided by the Department, is below:
- #8 Dockyard to Hamilton at 7.35am
- #10 St. George’s to Hamilton at 7.30am
- School Run – 7.30am, St. David’s to Cedarbridge Academy

not good at all for this same island. Isn’t there operators on call for circumstances like this?
Bus drivers used to give up their breaks to cover absent drivers’ shifts, and was paid overtime, but since this has been stopped, there is no longer anyone to cover their shifts, hence the cancellations of certain routes.
They should be “thankful” that they have a F/T job – especially with 3000+ unemployed and the numbers growing weekly!!
They are very “greedy” as is the BIU and their so-called management (Furbert) in general!! When the tourists stop coming to the Island almost completely (TOO EXPENSIVE) and most of the IB sector leave – then what are the OVERPAID bus drivers going to do???
Why weren’t the drivers asked to vote on the time and a half overtime proposal?
Is the BIU a democratic organization or a dictatorship?
If this OBA Gov’t had the “guts” they would move to “privatize” this bus service in general!! This has gone way past being a JOKE!!! This union would NOT survive in any other country – in today’s world – and they know it!!
