SCC Members To Assemble For Colin Smith

March 6, 2015

Members of the Somerset Cricket Club [SCC] have been asked to assemble in the yard of the club tomorrow [Mar 7] at 12.00pm in order to pay their respects to former president Colin Smith, who passed away recently.

Club members were asked to attend by an order of the SCC President, which said, “As we prepare to pay our respects to our dear former President, Colin Smith, all members of Somerset Cricket Club are asked to assemble in the yard of Somerset Cricket at 12 noon on March 7 in club attire. We will march from the Club to St. James Church for the service celebrating Colin’s life.‎

Following Mr. Smith’s passing, current SCC president Alfred Maybury said, “I’m still trying to collect my thoughts. Outside of being Colin’s Vice President for several years, more than that, we’ve been lifelong friends. When you get to a point where a good friend passes and suddenly, it takes some time.

“He’s going to be a great loss, not only to me but to all of the Somerset and Bermuda community, because no matter where you went on this island, if you were with Colin, somebody knew. This is a real sad day and even the weather is feeling it, because it’s a gloomy day because such a bright star has left us. It’s difficult; it’s very difficult.”
