Joan Lamm-Tennant Joins Hamilton Insurance

Joan Lamm-Tennant head shotHamilton Insurance Group , the Bermuda-based holding company of property and casualty reinsurer Hamilton Re and of Hamilton USA, the organization’s U.S. property and casualty insurance operations, today [Mar 9] announced that Joan Lamm-Tennant has been appointed to its Board of Directors.

Ms. Lamm-Tennant is a leader in the field of global economics and risk strategy. Her expertise includes emerging market growth strategy, enterprise risk modeling and implementation of risk-based decision processes resulting in capital efficiencies.

Ms. Lamm-Tennant is currently Global Chief Economist and Risk Strategist at Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC. She is transitioning to the role of Chief Executive Officer of a Microinsurance Venture Incubator [MVI] launched at the World Economic Forum in January by a consortium of insurance companies that includes Guy Carpenter and Hamilton Insurance Group.

Since 2012, Ms. Lamm-Tennant has been focusing on an emerging market strategy for Guy Carpenter together with Marsh & McLennan by designing an industry-owned facility intended to create a competitive market for microinsurance. She was instrumental in establishing the MVI launched in January.

Ms. Lamm-Tennant holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Investments from the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. In addition, she holds an M.B.A. in Finance from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas, and a B.B.A. with Honors in Accounting from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas.

She sits on the faculty of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and holds the Laurence and Susan Hirsch Adjunct Chair in International Business.

Ms. Lamm-Tennant is the recipient of the 2013 APIW Insurance Woman of the Year and the 2012 International Insurance Society Kenneth Black Award for service and commitment to the advancement of the global industry.
