Man Admits Stealing $18 Of Steak & Ice Cream

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Mar 27], a 65-year-old man admitted stealing ice cream and steak worth $18, telling the Court that he was intoxicated at the time.

Leroy Bean pleaded guilty to stealing a package of Blue Bunny ice cream and a strip steak, together worth $18, from the Somer’s Supermarket in St George’s in January 2015.

The Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Mr Bean’s actions had been captured on CCTV but that he had left the store without paying and before management staff could accost him.

The Prosecutor said that police caught up with Mr Bean in February, and upon questioning him, Mr Bean admitted taking the two items.

In Court this morning, Mr Bean told the Magistrate that he was intoxicated at the time and offered to pay for the items. It was also mentioned that Mr. Bean ate the stolen items.

The Magistrate ordered that Mr Bean must pay $18.00 restitution and also pay a fine of $300.
