Tsunami Warning Exercise On Wednesday
Bermuda’s emergency services will be participating in a simulated Atlantic tsunami warning exercise tomorrow [March 25] in conjunction with other countries within the Atlantic and Caribbean region, the Government said today.
A spokesperson said, “The public will be aware that the Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] issued an advisory earlier this week indicating that the 2015 exercise will simulate an undersea earthquake which triggers an undersea landslide a couple of hundred miles off the coast of Cape Canaveral, USA.
“The resulting exercise tsunami wave will affect Bermuda, the eastern coast of US and Canada as well as other jurisdictions in the Atlantic and Caribbean.
“As such, there will be various levels of participation in this simulated exercise by various services throughout the community. The BWS operated by BAS-Serco Limited on behalf of the Bermuda Government’s Department of Airport Operations will fully respond to the exercise to test the communication of information and dissemination of watches and warnings.
An Emergency Measures Organization [EMO] discussion focusing on readiness and preparedness will take place during the time period of the exercise.

You can see that the southern Caribbean countries are getting worried because they’ve had a few small earthquakes in the past couple of weeks.
There is a lot of activity on the Pacific side of Central America…. but the Gulf should be fine.
