22 Year Old Charged With Possessing Cannabis

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Apr 21], 22-year-old Nickell Smith was charged with possessing 6.4 grams of cannabis on 18th July 2014.

The Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Police had stopped Smith on Radnor road in Hamilton Parish. Smith had ditched his cycle and run off. Police chased and caught him behind Hamilton Parish Workmen’s Club. Just before being caught, Police saw Smith was alleged to have thrown a packet over a wall. This packet was retrieved by Police.

On being taken into custody, Smith told Police: “I didn’t have anything.” On analysis, the packet was found to contain 6.4 grams of cannabis.

The Magistrate ordered SIR and BARC reports, set sentencing on this matter for 10 June, and granted bail at $1,500.
